You Can Start To Lose Weight Today
The thought of starting to lose weight can be stressful and seem like too daunting of a task for some people. They feel like they will have to starve themselves with tiny portions and give up things they love to eat. Maybe the biggest fear of all is the thought of hunger pains they will have to suffer through. Especially at the start of their weight loss journey. Here are a few tips to cut back on the calorie intake without feeling restricted.
Take time to enjoy what you are eating
Just like mom used to say, eat your food slowly. Not so you won’t choke but it is good table etiquette and will help you lose weight. Since it takes our brains at least 20 minutes to tell your body you are full, taking 20 minutes to finish whatever portion size you are eating let’s you enjoy the flavors of whatever your favorite meal is you are eating. Don’t be afraid to use a timer (all cell phones have them) in the beginning to be sure you are taking the proper amount of time to eat your main meal. The great thing about a timer is it will make eating slowly a type of competition when you are setting the goal of taking the full 20 minutes to finish.
Get 8 hours of sleep
If you can’t get to 8 hours of sleep, add an hour to whatever amount you are getting now to help you lose weight. I realize this may sound weird and researchers can’t exactly explain why but but they have a couple of theories-
1. Getting at least an extra hour of sleep will reduce the time you may spend eating or even binging on an unhealthy snack. Plus sleep burns a moderate amount of calories so instead of eating you are burning. Keep in my that you are adding an hour for those getting under 8. Getting too much sleep can be a weight loss disadvantage.
2. Sleeping 8 hours or adding an extra hour to your current schedule will assist with your appetite level when you wake up in the morning. If you are getting 6 hours now and you add an hour you should feel the difference pretty quickly.
Add some healthy soups
Find a few different healthy soups, especially clear soups, that have great flavors but not the high calories. You can easily have soup with every meal (even breakfast) to assist in not only eating slowly but to help feel full without taking in too many calories. Heat and eat soup for 5 minutes before your main meal. This way your stomach will feel partially full before you even start your main course. Make a big pot of any of these low calorie, flavorful Japanese soup recipes and then eat a portion before each meal.
