Diet Myths #4 I get some form of exercise in daily so I can eat what I want

Why it’s a myth – Unless your an Olympic athlete like Michael Phelps who burns up to 20,000 calories a day when he’s training then no you cannot eat what you want because you exercise. The bottom line is the only way you can lose weight is to burn off more calories than you take in. So if you exercise for an hour and burn off 400 calories, then go have a 600 calorie meal, guess what, you are going to gain weight!

Grain and Dairy Free PancakesOne of the great myths of getting processed sugars and grains out of your life is you have to give up taste. This recipe by Ashley Thomas of My Heart Beats shows it’s simply not true! I love these grain and dairy free pancakes. Make sure you cook them in grass fed butter and use Organic, pure maple Syrup. For me, instead of using Coconut milk, I prefer using Silk Protein Nut Milk. It has 10 grams of Protein and I enjoy the flavor more.

Fitness Goals Should Be Fun And Rewarding

fitness goalsFitness goals are like any other goal in life. Stop for a minute and think about how you got where you are today. I’m not talking about physically, I’m talking about what you do for a living. For example, your a software engineer. More than likely, you decided this is what you wanted to do for a living. You then looked into the best colleges, went to school, graduated and interviewed for a job with different companies. My point? You set up a plan and had a goal. It’s no different for your fitness, you need to set fitness goals, in writing and study your plan. Your fitness goals may not even be to lose weight. They could be to put on 10 pounds of muscle. Or run faster, hit a better backhand in tennis, jump higher to spike a volleyball, have the ball roll off your fingers properly to make more jump shots. Whatever fitness goals you have, here are some tips on achieving them.

Healthy Chinese Food RecipesOne of the great myths about trying to lose weight or staying in shape is you have to eat foods you do not like. I love Chinese food so I took some old recipes and made them healthy Chinese food recipes. Now they are healthy and still very tasty.

ALMOND CHICKEN

1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast.
1/3 Slivered almonds
5 slices fresh ginger root (fresh tastes better but you can use bottled)
3 green onions, chopped to about 1″ lengths
1 green pepper, chopped as above
1/2 cup diced fresh bamboo shoots
1 cup olive or coconut oil

Like I always say, whatever you can stick to. This article is about diet myths that may actually be keeping you overweight. It’s one thing to feel disappointed that you’re a few pounds overweight because you’ve been a little lax with your eating or workout. However, when you are following the rules of the diet you’ve chosen but not losing weight or even worse, gaining weight, you can become upset and depressed. If you’re doing what you should be but not getting close to your goal, there’s something wrong with the program you are following. There’s a possibility that one of these myths are causing you to keep on or pack on the pounds.
